At Encompass, internships are more than a box to check for school. They’re an invitation into meaningful, relationship-centered work with children, families, and communities. Our interns are valued members of the team. You’ll gain hands-on experience alongside supportive, mission-driven professionals who believe in learning by doing, reflecting often, and growing together. Whether your interests are clinical, educational, or creative, you’ll be welcomed into real work that truly matters. Encompass offers internship opportunities across clinic-based, in-home, and community-based settings, including Early Supports for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT), our birth-to-three, family-centered early support program.
Our services meet children where they live, learn, and play, in clinics, homes, preschools, schools, and throughout the community.
Ideal for: Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy students
Mental Health interns support children and families through play based individual, group, and family therapy experiences. You’ll gain exposure to assessment, intervention, documentation, and advocacy while working alongside licensed clinicians. Opportunities may include clinic sessions, preschool-based services, and community outreach.
Ideal for: OT graduate and OTA undergraduate students
Ideal for: PT graduate students and PTA students
Physical Therapy interns gain hands-on exposure to pediatric movement, strength, balance, and functional mobility. Much of this learning happens in natural environments through birth-to-three ESIT services, supporting children in meaningful, everyday activities.
Ideal for: SLP graduate students and SLPA students
Speech-Language Pathology interns support communication, language, feeding, and social engagement across a variety of settings. Interns collaborate closely with families, educators, and interdisciplinary teams, including within ESIT, where parent coaching and learning through daily routines are central.
Ideal for: SLP, OT, PT, Social Work, Infant Mental Health, Early Childhood Special Education, Family Studies, and related programs
ESIT interns support infants, toddlers, and their caregivers through individualized early supports and parent coaching. You’ll learn how to partner with families within natural routines, build developmental skills through play, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that may include SLPs, OTs, PTs, family resource coordinators, mental health specialists, and early childhood educators. Experiences may include in-home visits, community-based coaching, developmental monitoring, team meetings, and learning how to empower caregivers as a child’s most important teacher.
Ideal for: ECE, Child Development, or related programs
Early Childhood Education interns work directly with young children and caregivers in play-based, relationship-driven environments. Experiences may include preschool settings, community programs, ESIT developmental support, and family-centered coaching that nurtures early development and emotional regulation.
Marketing & Communications interns help tell the Encompass story. This role supports content creation, storytelling, social media, outreach, and community engagement. It’s a chance to blend creativity with purpose and amplify services, including ESIT, that truly matter to families.
Encompass is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where people feel seen, supported, and valued. We believe interns bring curiosity, perspective, and heart to our work, and we’re honored to be part of your learning journey. Ready to learn, grow, and make a difference? We’d love to explore whether an internship at Encompass is the right fit for you.
The first step is easy—start by submitting your intern application. Click below to access the application and let us know your interests, academic requirements, goals, and scheduling availability.
After you apply, our team will review your information and share it with relevant program teams based on interests, availability, and capacity. If there’s a potential match, a team member will reach out to schedule a conversation to learn more about your goals and academic needs. This is also your time to ask questions and share details about the experience you are looking for with a potential site supervisor. Once you’ve successfully matched with a site supervisor, our team will be in touch to start your onboarding.
While we can’t guarantee placement, every application is reviewed with care and considered across multiple teams when appropriate.
You can expect to hear from us within ten business days of applying. The full process from application to starting your internship typically takes a minimum of five weeks, depending on availability, program needs, onboarding, and other requirements.
We welcome partnerships with universities and training programs. If your program is interested in establishing an affiliation agreement, learning contract or renewing one that has expired, please contact us to start the process.
