Dear Encompass Family,

We at Encompass are part of a grieving America, grappling with the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and other members of the Black community. We know that this violence is not new and is the result of centuries of systemic and ingrained racism. Over the last few weeks, we have been collectively sharing our anguish, hurt, and confusion. We all want to turn our hurt into meaningful action.

We acknowledge and condemn the multifaceted aspects of systemic racism and oppression in our country.

Encompass exists to create a community where all children thrive. We recognize that as long as racism and inequities continue, we cannot reach this essential goal. We will not ignore the impact that racism has on the developing minds of young children. We stand with and are committed to working hand-in-hand with staff, families, and community organizations to build a society where Black children and families are safe and can truly thrive.

Our Encompass values of Integrity, Excellence, Connection, Respect, and Kindness are key to all we do. Encompass commits to working tirelessly in partnering with families to raise children with these values and contribute to an equitable and just future. We commit to looking inward at our own racial equity issues to examine our own culture and leadership, consistently striving to do better.

Look for resources, tools, and strategies from us on our website and on our social media channels for parents and caregivers to address racism with children. Thank you for your commitment to our community through the health and well-being of all our children.
