Sibshops
Workshops for siblings of children with unique and special needs, developmental delays, disabilities, or who are receiving pediatric therapy services
In most families, siblings will have the longest-lasting relationships with each other. This can be especially challenging for families in which a child has a disability or special needs. Sibshops provide peer support, guidance and information in a lively, recreational setting to typically-developing kids ages 5-11 whose siblings have unique and special needs, developmental delays, disabilities, or who are receiving pediatric therapy services. Encompass Sibshops are run by Encompass staff and older siblings of kids with special needs. Recognizing that being a brother or sister of a person with special needs has unique ups and downs, workshops offer a variety of fun activities and great opportunities to celebrate their contributions and talk with peers who “get it.”
We currently offer Sibshops in Issaquah in the classroom space at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
