Is this the Summer for speech therapy?
If your child has difficulty speaking it can affect many areas of their life. Even minor issues, such as a lisp, can impact the social and academic progress of a child. There are a variety of issues, such as breathing complications, coordination issues, or low tone which may cause speech difficulties.
Speech therapists uses a variety of activities to improve your child’s speaking ability and tailored therapy to the specific needs of the child. After an evaluation, our speech therapists will work with you to determine a therapy plan. The length of treatment will depend on the severity of the issue, but even small improvements can have a positive influence in a child’s ability to more fluently communicate.
One aspect of speech therapy to keep in mind is that the work does not usually end once you leave the therapist’s office. Continual practice at home is what solidifies what is learned from the therapist. Now that school is out for the summer this is an excellent time to begin speech therapy. For some children, a burst of therapy during the summer months will help to set them on the right path before heading back to school next fall.
We provide speech and language therapy to children age 0-8 years. If certain issues are caught before they become too pronounced, then a child’s social and academic wellbeing may be greatly improved.
