In most families, siblings will have the longest-lasting relationships with each other. This can be especially challenging for families in which a child has a disability or special needs. Sibshops provide peer support, guidance and information to typically-developing siblings of kids with special needs in a lively, recreational setting. Open to kids in K-5th grade, Encompass Sibshops are run by Encompass staff and older siblings of special needs kids. Recognizing that being a brother or sister of a person with special needs has unique ups and downs, workshops offer a variety of fun activities and great opportunities to celebrate their contributions and talk with peers who “get it.”
